We use the highest quality components for all of the rods made here at Custom Cane Rods by David L Reid.

We offer a variety of wood species for our Reel Seat options to help add that personal and custom feel ……..

For those of us who love to fish the older Click Pawl reels of days gone by, or the newer reels with the longer reel foot ……… reel seats and wood inserts can be customized for a unique and tailor-made touch for your rod build.

We use the highest grade of Flor Cork that we get shipped direct to us from Portugal. All of our grips are glued and turned on the blank instead of using a mandrel and then glued on the blank at a later date. I believe that turning the grips in this manner creates the truest relationship to the rod and produces that perfect connection and feel to the Angler. By turning the grips on the rod using a lathe, the end result is a grip that was created for that specific rod. This results is a grip that transfers the feel of the fight through the blank into the hands of the angler relating superior feel and sensitivity ……

The lengths and thickness of cork handles, as well as the reel seats are custom built to order at our Customers request. These personal appointments help create a unique and one of kind rod. All cork handles are lathe turned on the rod designed to give the angler that perfect amount of feedback …….

All of our Two Handed Spey Rods and our Two Handed Trout Spey Models utilize spliced joints for connections, as well as being hollow built in design.

Trout rods come with the option of ferrules or spliced joints, at the request of our clients …..

Agate stripping guides add a touch of class and beauty to each build, a rod that can be passed down to the next generation of anglers ……

Each rod comes with a custom sock and rod tube …..
