All of our Trout Spey models are carefully designed with the purpose of being excellent fishing tools to chase Trout, “Half Pounder” steelhead, Atlantic Grilse, Artic Char, Landlocked Salmon, Sea Run Cutthroat, Shad, Bass or anything else that catches your fancy. Why limit yourself when this type of fishing is so much fun, and these lighter two handed rods are just the ticket to extend your fall and winter swing season. All rods are hollowbuilt, unless otherwise requested and hand crafted with splices. The finest silk, flor cork and hardware is used.

We offer two taper designs in our Trout Spey Models:
Parabolic Taper:
The first design we offer at Custom Cane Rods by David L. Reid is a Parabolic taper that excells with deep loads and a smooth timed cast. When loaded into the bottom 1/3 of the rod it almost seems to effortlessly cast itself. With this taper, the fish is felt deep into the handle. A lot of anglers will choose this rod when wanting to fish tips but it also excels with a shorter, mid belly dry line system.
Semi Parabolic Taper:
The second design we offer at Custom Cane Rods by David L. Reid is a Semi Parabolic Taper. This model throws a dry line whether it be a Scandi or a Skagit beautifully with an accurate presentation. The Semi Parabolic taper is an ideal choice to throw soft hackles or skate dries. This rod also excels with poly leaders. This taper translates incredible feel in the cast through the rod and is an excellent choice for those who prefer to load the rod through the cast. Scandi and Dri lines excel with this taper design.
